Docomo Pacific is the latest gold sponsor of the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 after handing over $60,000 worth of in-kind donations to the Mini Games Organizing Committee last Monday at their main office in Gualo Rai.

The telecommunications and entertainment company’s donation includes: 1,800 Pre-Loaded SIM kits for participating athletes and their entourage; $11,000 worth of commercial airtime for NMPMG spots across multiple networks; sports kits for each participating athlete that consists of a sport drawstring bag, water bottle, cooling towel, and earbuds; exclusive offers for NMPMG participants; and prepaid phone card vending machines and device charging stations to keep participants and spectators connected.

Additionally, Docomo Pacific has released a video tribute in celebration of the CNMI which is the host country of this year’s Games. The TV commercial can be viewed via the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ko4yrRwrDA.

“The NMPMG will bring athletes from 24 countries in Oceania to the CNMI. As the host country, we wanted to make sure that all participants could enjoy the best mobile connectivity experience during their visit. This way they can put all their focus on the games and exploring our beautiful islands and culture,” said Docomo Pacific  general manager Pauline Johnson

The commercial will be posted on social media, cable TV, YouTube, and in the movie theaters. Docomo Pacific hopes the commercial will give motivation and energize the viewers to support the athletes.

Mini Games Organizing Committee CEO Vicente “Ben” Babauta thanked Docomo Pacific for creating the commercial for the Mini Games.

“We’re honored that the commercial recognized the athletes, the national teams, and the entire Pacific Games Association that are here and have worked and trained very hard for this moment. It is time for them to deliver their part, which is a good and clean competition for us to enjoy. One Pacific as we bring in 20 other countries,” he said, while adding this year’s Mini Games is truly CNMI-wide as there will be triathlon on Rota and some beach volleyball games on Tinian.

He added that currently there are over 500 athletes in town who are practicing around the roads.

“We have countries such as Tonga, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and many more countries. It’s just amazing that it is happening.”

Since its conception in 1981, the Pacific Mini Games has been a premier multi-sport event displaying athletic talent from the different countries and territories located in Oceania.

This competition takes place every four years and will be hosted for the first time in the CNMI from June 17 to 25, 2022. The Games will include approximately 1,400 athletes from 20 Pacific Games Association members to compete in nine sports—athletics, badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, golf, tennis, triathlon, weightlifting, and va’a.
