Dandan Middle School valedictorian Holly Sarah B. Liban was awarded three additional awards in the middle school’s promotion ceremony yesterday at the DMS campus grounds.

Liban was also awarded the English language arts award, the mathematics award, and the science award for consecutively obtaining the highest scores from 6th to 8th grade.

Liban said she plans to either go to Saipan Southern High School or Marianas High School.

“I am happy because all the hard work I placed to getting this award paid off,” she said.

In her speech, Liban cited the importance of attitude.

“In times of choosing where we go and what we want to be, let us not forget that with intelligence and good character, we will continue to succeed,” Liban said.

DMS promoted 127 students to high school, with Toa I. Pangelinan serving as class salutatorian.

Along with Liban, other students received awards as well. Lillian Podziewski received the Social Studies award, Tioni Reyes received the Chamorro Carolinian Language and Heritage Studies award, Pangelinan received the Physical Education award, Joanna Caguioa and Jerwin Mendiola received the Leadership Corps award, and Yumin Ahn and Caguioa received the Advanced Art award.
