DMS finally gets own bus shelter, thanks to supporters
During a luncheon fundraiser last year, Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan sponsored a raffle event to help the Dandan Middle School raise funds to build a bus shelter. Sablan provided all the 40-plus prizes that were raffled off on Oct. 25, 2014. The prizes included split type air conditioners, art work, $100 gift certificates, $100 cash prizes, etc.
Toward the last hour of Sablan’s luncheon fundraiser, the DMS STUCO president announced that the school has raised $1,700 out of the $4,200 needed to proceed with the bus shelter project. The school was still short about $2,500. At this announcement, Chairman Chen of Mega Stars and owner of Tinian Dynasty approached Sablan and expressed that he would like to help DMS by covering the difference of what was needed for the bus shelter project. The news was shared with the PTSA president, Bobbie Sablan, and Lynn Mendiola, DMS principal, who announced the good news to everyone in the luncheon with much gratitude and happiness. The check in the amount of $2,500 was delivered to the school but Chen was unable to deliver it himself as he was on a business trip in Hong Kong.
On Jan. 13, 2015, the project was completed. Now students have a safe and sheltered designated area while they wait for their bus. During rainy weather, students are no longer getting drenched and soaking wet when they get home.
On behalf of the students, teachers and parents of Dandan Middle School, principal Mendiola would like to extend her deepest appreciation to everyone that supported DMS on this project, and most especially to Delegate Sablanand Chairman Chen of Mega Stars. Thank you for putting students first!
