A disgrace to our society

Retirees are usually thought of as some of the most revered citizens in our societies but that is not the case with some retirees in the CNMI. Instead of being the excellent examples of civic virtue, we have a lot of retirees behaving like organize gang members, thugs, and hoodlums. The sad part for me is that I have taught some of their children and I’m sure their child’s character is far superior to their parents, thank God! God has placed it in my heart to fight this fight for the people and I’m just glad I have the experience of the civil rights movement or I wouldn’t have the stomach or will to deal with this mess because the days of the good-old-boys network control is coming to an end and I’m leading the charge! It is time for our youth to take over and show these old folks it’s a new day!

Everyone who has followed this issue knows the governor and the Legislature are not playing fair. We are supposed to be a nation of principles, values and laws, which is what makes America so great, not the people as there are good and bad people in every society but every society does not live by the same rules we live by in America. So the rationale of “pressing times” by the governor and Legislature does not justify the means of trashing our principles and circumventing our laws on purpose, especially when common sense is telling us it is about the election and votes. The protesting retirees don’t seem to understand that if we let the governor and Legislature trash our principles and laws now, we will have given them permission to become tyrants whenever they want to use the “pressing time” rationale. Retirees are supposed to set good examples that display wisdom, not bad ones that show how ugly you can be! See how the governor has you acting. Please wake up!

We (all retirees) have gone without our 25 percent for almost a year now and it would not hurt to wait until November to do this the right way. Retirees also need to be more open-minded about other solutions, especially when it has the potential for hundreds of millions in the first year! Most retirees have smoked pot and many of them still smoke pot. I even asked a group of retirees at the Legislature how many of them had smoked pot and all but two raised their hands and one of the two had smoked when he was a teen. I’m also sure most citizens have some kind of relationship with people who smoke pot and pot can be found and purchased in any village in the CNMI. So what is so darn wrong with us controlling it and turning it into a billion dollar industry for the CNMI?

Retirees should be leading the charge to legalize-it, not acting like a gang trying to collect a measly 30 million for yourself when you could be doing something to help us all! Retirees, please stop being a disgrace to your children and to our society protesting for a casino as your only hope, especially when you go to Mass on Sunday knowing the church is against a casino. Are you a hypocrite or what has the governor turned you into? We must all pray for these retirees who boldly follow the wrong person in the wrong direction! Anybody but Inos and we will be much better off with a cured democracy as a united society of America!

Let’s please try to be civil about this and not fight in the papers so please email me ambrosebennett@yahoo.com if you have a question or if you are interested in helping the CNMI to Legalize-it as I will be presenting this matter to the Legislature to become law!
