Diana Camacho bagged her second win of the season, while Percy Omechelang notched his first, as the two veteran bowlers triumphed in Saipan Bowling Association’s Budweiser King and Queen of the Lanes Tournament for June held over the weekend at the Saipan Bowling Center.

Camacho, who ruled the April roll-offs, showed consistency in both days of the monthly competition, earning 707 pinfalls last Saturday and 724 last Sunday. Her 707 pinfalls in Day 1 of the tournament gave her a one-pinfall lead over four-time winner Kathy Mersai. Camacho managed to take a shaky lead last Saturday, as she started strong with 216 pinfalls in Game 1 before scoring 186, 149, and 156 in the last three games. Mersai also had a 200-plus pinfall output in Game 3 (208) to go with her 178 and 160s for total of 706 pinfalls. Janice Camacho joined Diana Camacho and Mersai in the Top 3 in Day 1 after collecting 640 pinfalls (126, 164, 164, and 156).

In Day 2, Diana Camacho played even better, capping her weekend dominance with a 207-pinfall performance in Game 4. Her three other scores were 153, 170, and 194. She was the lone female bowler to tally at least 700 pinfalls last Sunday, as Gloria Omechelang, who knocked in 616 in Day 1 for fifth place, managed only 675 in Day 2 and settle for the third place honors, bumping off Janice Camacho. Bowlers are allowed to compete in both days of the tournament, but only the higher score is counted.

Six other female keglers joined the Queen of the Lanes roll-offs for June with Gigi Zapanta placing fifth with her 633 pinfalls, followed by Yho Villavicencio (631), Myrna Santos (629), Carrie Camacho (610), Ron Cal (593), and Elena Soll (593).

In the King of the Lanes, Percy Omechelang snatched the top spot from Day 1 leader Raymond Angeles. Omechelang, who also bowled in Day 1 but his 701 pinfalls just landed him at No. 4, finished on top in Day 2 with his 851 pinfalls. Omechelang began the final day of the tournament with 193 pinfalls and came out smoking in the last three, posting 200-plus pinfalls in all three occasions (210, 243, 205) for a 212.75 average and 24-pinfall win over Robert Talavera.

Talavera, who was also in second place in Day 1 with his 810 pinfalls, fell short in his bid for a fourth monthly as he knocked down 183 pins in Game 4. Talavera, who prevailed in the first three monthly competitions, was behind by only two pinfalls against Omechelang after three games, 644-646, after the former recorded 193, 236, and 215 in the first three games.

Joining Omechelang and Talavera in the Top 3 was Angeles, who also played in Day 2, but was a bit off gathering only 712 pinfalls (180, 203, 159, and 170). Angeles’ Day 1 total of 817 pinfalls (229, 199, 172, and 214) gave him the third place finish.

Other bowlers who participated in the June roll-offs were Lito Teodoro (783), Bernard Paraiso (726), Tito Corpuz (698), Simon Manacop (693), Rusty Musca (687), Raphael Zapanta (685), Jae Yong Kim (678), Yong Woon Lee (673), Raul Dumapit (671), Ronald Batac (653), Paul Pangelinan (636), Raymond Zapanta (619), Ben Aizon (573), and Roger Vales (571).
