Dialysis center’s plan of correction OK’d
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has accepted and officially approved the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s plan of correction for the dialysis center, according to CHCC chief executive officer Esther Muna.
The dialysis center passed a CMS survey last year but the survey team found one standard-level deficiency–the lack of a renal dietitian that is registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. The matter has already been corrected by CHCC.
In an email to Muna, CMS Division of Survey and Certification nurse consultant Ed Q. Japinta said that the Commonwealth Health Center’s dialysis center’s plan of correction has been accepted.
“The plan of correction following the revisit survey conducted on Sept. 15, 2014, was accepted and therefore, CHC ESRD dialysis center is back in compliance,” Japinta said.
Muna submitted the dialysis center’s plan of correction on Nov. 24, 2014, to CMS associate regional administrator Steven Chickering, highlighting the hospital’s corrective measures for the dialysis center.
CHC found a dietitian who will be ready for employment this month.
According to Chickering’s last letter to CHCC, an interview with the medical director during their survey on Sept. 15 revealed that the facility did not have a registered dietitian on staff. At the time, the medical director told CMS that they were actively looking for one.
In an earlier interview with Muna, she said that they have already addressed it and should have a dietitian soon.
CHCC is now awaiting its hospital’s corrective plans to be approved before the hospital receives an update on its recertification this April.
