The Division of Fish & Wildlife in Lower Base was burglarized twice over the weekend and an estimated $20,000 worth of items were stolen.

Police officer Jason Tarkong said yesterday that police learned of the first burglary on Sunday. DFW however, was burglarized again that night. Tarkong said the second police report was filed on Monday.

The burglar or burglars managed to enter the DFW building through a sliding glass window. Padlocks on several lockers were cut.

The stolen items were from within the building and warehouse area, according to police.

The stolen items include four red metal tool boxes that contained tools, one Toro electric blower, one Kawasaki bush cutter, three fishing rods, one Dewalt cordless drill, one Makita circular saw, and three digital Panasonic/Sony cameras.

Also stolen were one Lenovo computer, one Sony Vaio laptop, one drill press, three scuba regulators (scuba pro and aqua lung), one Arc welder, and a large white ice chest.

Tarkong said the incidents were actually the second and the third burglary cases at DFW in the past few weeks. He has no details about the first incident.

“The Department of Public Safety and the NMI Crime Stoppers Program are seeking help from the public for information,” said Tarkong, who is also the Crime Stoppers coordinator. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for any information leading to an arrest.
