DFS employees to join Hafa Adai 5K

DFS will be joining the PIC Hafa Adai 5K set for April 9.

This will be the third running of the event. This year’s beneficiary will be the NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross. DFS is upping the ante and encouraging other businesses to follow suit as they will be sponsoring their employees to participate in the biggest event on Saipan.

“DFS is proud to support the Hafa Adai 5K in conjunction with PIC’s fundraising efforts. In addition to its sponsorship, DFS encourages its employees to participate in the event to promote wellness and community involvement. DFS funds the registration fees for 50 of its employees who will be representing the company at the event on April 9,” said Marian Aldan-Pierce, division president, DFS Saipan Limited

The 5K will start and end at PIC Saipan and will feature five different coloring stations along the Beach Road route. Participants are encouraged to wear white attire so that the full effect of the coloring stations can be seen post-race. Volunteers will be celebrating each runner’s arrival by greeting them with “holi powder.” This is a biodegradable mixture of corn starch and food coloring.

“It is always great to see organizations like DFS encouraging their employees and families to get out and stay active,” said Sports, Entertainment and Activities director Glenn Policare. “This event promotes wellness, team spirit and above all the willingness to help others.”

Nearly 600 participants have registered to date. While people are more than welcome to register the day of the event, they are highly encouraged to preregister.

“Last year, we sold out three nights before race day,” said race director Keoni Ichihara. “This is the largest gathering of runners on island for any single event so we strongly urge the community to register ahead of time.”

Entry fees are only $10. Entry forms for the Hafa Adai 5K can be found at the PIC lobby and are also available at Triple J Motors on Beach Road, Gold’s Gym, Boarderlne in Garapan and at the MVA office. The Hafa Adai 5K starts at 7:30am sharp.
