For leading their respective Blue Haus teams to the championship of the open and masters divisions, Ivan Devero and Elmer Esdrelon were named Finals MVPs of the recent Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League.

Devero scored 10 points, but none more important than the crucial free throws he scored at crunchtime in Blue Haus’ 64-62 conquest of Chang Ming Market in the open division of the LSA league last Sunday at the Koblerville Basketball Court.

Esdrelon, meanwhile, brandished his vintage form scoring 23 points in Blue Haus’ 76-67 win against JSN Construction earlier in the two-game finals also last Sunday.

In the regular season MVP race, NAPA Auto Parts’ Preston Basa and JSN Construction’s Jorge De Guzman got the nod for the open and masters divisions, respectively.

Joining Basa in the mythical team were Blue Haus guard Douglas Schmidt and center Marlon De Dios, JTM Saipan center Jonel Broncano, and Chang Ming Market forward Juan Camacho.

Aside from De Guzman also making the mythical team in the masters division were Esdrelon and his teammate Junar Guiab, Vizion Insurance guard Fradel Sedillo, and JSN Construction forward Jun Tabora.

Best coach was Guiab for the masters and Dan Chan of Blue Haus for the open division. For the sportsmanship award, Pepoys Cafe got the vote in the open. Ditto for Legends Elite in the masters.

Meanwhile, league commissioner Sonny Ebuen thanked all participating teams for making the first season of the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League a success.

Teams in the open division were champion Blue Haus, second place Chang Ming Market, third place JTM Saipan, fourth place NAPA Auto Parts as well as Vizion Insurance, Marianas Health Services, Pepoys Cafe & Restaurant, Padrinos Tuesday Club, Al-Ger Manpower, and Pacific Best Choice.

Champion Blue Haus, runner-up JSN Construction, second runner-up Vision Insurance, and third runner-up Legends Elite make up the masters field.

Ebuen also thanked Rollers Basketball Association and its president Juan Dela Cruz for allowing them the use of the Koblerville Basketball Court as well as Armatech Corp. for donating the trophies.
