Determination of death for Cpl. Clancy

TINIAN—The commanding officer of Cpl. Donovan E. Clancy assigned to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 officially submitted a determination of death Sunday, Oct. 5, to Headquarters Marine Corps, Quantico. A command investigation of Clancy’s case is currently pending.

Clancy, from Ridgway, Pennsylvania, is survived by his wife, Tiffany Clancy, and his stepson, Brandon Clancy.

Celebration of life services are planned to be held by Clancy’s family in Ridgway, Pennsylvania and by MWCS-18 on Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan within the next month.

Clancy was reported missing on Sept. 26 in a swimming-related incident while wading in heavy surf conditions on the northwestern shore of Tinian.

The search for Clancy coordinated by USCG Sector Guam began the evening of Sept. 26. Participating units included Marine Air Group 12 Marines; the Saipan Department of Public Safety; the Tinian DPS; USCG Cutter Washington; Patrol Squadron 5; Commander, Task Force 72; and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 search and rescue teams.

The search was officially suspended by U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam on Oct. 1, 5:00 a.m. Guam time. (III Marine Expeditionary Force)
