DEQ needs volunteers for COP beach cleanup
The Division of Environmental Quality’s cleanup brigade will be picking up trash at Coral Ocean Point Beach on Saipan this Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 8am.
If you would like to volunteer, meet the DEQ representatives on Saturday at the beach entrance parking lot. Volunteers will split into groups and clean until 10am and break for drinks and then continue, if needed.
This month, outstanding brigade volunteers who participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap and those who participated in at least three cleanups will receive a green brigade t-shirt.
Last month, the cleanup at Makaka Beach drew over 30 volunteers from Hopwood My Wave Club, William S. Reyes Elementary School, Marianas High School, Northern Marianas Academy, and others. Some 460 lbs of trash was removed from the beach and properly disposed off.
The DEQ is looking forward to a repeat success this Saturday, so join DEQ’s cleanup brigade. Let us work together for the health of our coral reefs and cleanliness of our beaches for everyone to enjoy.
