The CNMI Division of Environmental Quality and the Guam Environmental Protection Agency together comprises approximately 75 staff and their families will compete in the 5th Annual Goodwill Games tournament on Saipan starting today, June 29, to Sunday, July 1.

The goal of the environmental goodwill games between the two environmental agencies is to promote goodwill and networking opportunities between counterparts. In the last goodwill games held in Guam, the Guam EPA defeated DEQ and claimed the perpetual trophy. This year, CNMI DEQ is ready to reclaim the trophy, which they held for two years in the initial games.

“We anticipate the most spectacular and competitive competition for this year’s Games,” said Goodwill Games chair Julie Mendoza.

The games will test the ability of each agency by engaging in teamwork and cooperation. The games include softball, basketball, mini-Tagaman, an obstacle course, tug-o-war, Fear Factor, billiards, darts, beer pong, and waterfall.

“We are very excited for the upcoming goodwill games and we look forward to fostering and enhancing our relationship with Guam EPA,” said DEQ director Frank Rabauliman.

The games will be held at the American Memorial Park in Garapan. (PR)
