On Saturday, March 14, 2020, the NMI Democratic Party will host its 2nd Presidential Caucus on the islands Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

NMI registered voters who would like to participate and register as members of the party are welcome and encouraged to attend. Registered voters and persons who will be eligible to vote on or before Nov 3, 2020, on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will be able to visit the designated caucus voting sites and cast votes for their Democratic presidential candidate of choice. As of March 5, the following three presidential candidates will be listed on the NMI Presidential Caucus ballot: Former vice president Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

Candidates Deval Patrick, Andrew Yang, Tom Steyer, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, and Mike Bloomberg qualified for the ballot by petition, but each have since suspended their campaign and will no longer be on the ballot.

The caucus will be held on Saipan at the Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Ballroom, with simultaneous sub-caucuses at the following locations: Northern Marianas College Rota Center Room B2-VTC Room, Northern Marianas College Tinian Center Room C-VTC Room. Doors will open at 5pm, with the doors closing for the caucuses to begin promptly at 6pm. The results from Super Tuesday narrowed a candidate race of four to three with Elizabeth Warren now reviewing her options on whether she’ll continue her campaign.

“I’ve been with Elizabeth Warren from the very beginning and I hope she stays in the race. We’re both lawyers, both born and raised in Oklahoma, she’s smart and has strong policies but, best of all, we’re both Democrats,” said NMI Democrat Joe Hill.

Will she stay in the race? Only time will tell so until that time arrives don’t forget to register to become her pledged delegate via www.nmidems.org.

All persons interested to become delegates to the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee Wisconsin, pledged to any of the presidential candidates—Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, or Elizabeth Warren—should visit www.nmidems.org to receive a delegate candidacy form and submit their candidacy on or before this Sunday, March 8, 2020.
