CCA also announced last Thursday the re-election of Roman “Bo” T. Palacios and Tina Marie M. Aguon for a two-year term on the board.

The general membership election was held at the meeting of the CCA board of directors on Jan. 16, 2020, in the CCA conference room in Gualo Rai. The election of CCA board officers was held on Feb. 25, 2020, and saw the re-election of Palacios to serve as president, Nora R. Sablan as vice president, Aguon as secretary, and Cesar Dumatol as treasurer.

In 2003, CCA began as an alliance of volunteers and became formally chartered and incorporated in 2008. And in 2009, CCA achieved a tax-exempt under 501 (c)(3) status and since then has been providing direct client financial assistance such as nutritional supplements and other personal needs, as well as offering certain types of medical equipment, e.g. hospital beds, wheelchairs, oxygen concentrator, etc. as prescribed by locally licensed physicians in the CNMI to those individuals who are receiving treatment for cancer.

Also, CCA facilitates monthly cancer survivors support group meetings, and engages in various awareness and outreach activities. CCA has produced various educational publications such as brochures, fliers, videos, and DVDs. CCA organizes community events to raise awareness about cervical cancer, oral cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and lung and pancreatic cancer, to mention a few. In addition, CCA engages in programs such as early screening and detection, and patient navigation. Which is why CCA, in partnership with all seven dental clinics in the CNMI, is offering free oral cancer screening for all ages.

CCA thanks all of its partners, donors and individuals who contribute to the successful programs of the association. The public is encouraged to learn about its programs and contribute to the very important and worthwhile work of the association.
