Delay in release of CNMI population demographics
The planned release of the rest of the 2010 U.S. Census demographics for the CNMI population will be delayed from late spring to later summer of this year, according to a statement issued yesterday by the Central Statistics Division of the Department of Commerce.
According to officials of the U.S. Census Bureau through normal communication, “.this informs you that we are delaying the release of the Island Areas’ Demographic Profiles to summer 2012. We had hoped to produce them this spring, but due to unforeseen circumstances and the need for rigorous review we decided to wait until the summer.”
This also delays the same releases for Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
The population demographics include detailed data on housing, labor force, educational backgrounds, and ethnicities, among others.
This delay comes after the US Census Bureau officially released the village population counts or the Supplemental Population Counts early this year.
