‘Death by Chocolate’ fundraiser
Chocolate lovers are invited to participate in the Salvation Army’s first ever Death by Chocolate fundraiser on Nov. 26 at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.
The all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet will take place from 11am to 4pm, which includes a silent auction, door prizes, a professional no-limits chocolate competition, entertainment, and more. Proceeds will go to the Salvation Army’s soup kitchen and food bank.
Just a snippet of the menu items consists of dark chocolate mud cake with almond chips, walnut and chocolate cupcakes, mini black forest cake, royal Hawaiian chocolate pie, mini marble chocolate mousse in cup, white chocolate and raspberry jam tartlet, chocolate fountain vanilla sponge square, and Belgium chocolate ice cream.
The Salvation Army serves around 2,000 families and homeless people each month.
Salvation Army ministry leader Wayne Gillespie said, “We were running a little lower than usual on our budget and we need to pay overhead so that’s how we thought of making the chocolate fundraiser,” Gillespie said. “We wanted to have something that was unique and interesting and pretty much universally loved, and that’s obviously chocolate.”
There will also be a brief kettle kick off ceremony, with a local VIP dropping the first kettle donation.
“With kettle season, we bring the red kettles around and people can just drop their lose change or dollars when they walk by.”
Tickets for the event costs $25 and entitles one to all the chocolate you can eat. Contact Gillespie at 483-0885 to have tickets delivered to you.
