Dear people of the Commonwealth

Share

As a senior member of this community I am saddened and distressed with the direction our Commonwealth is going. It seems that foreign corporations joined by a few local corporations and a handful of opportunistic politicians are prepared to sell the Commonwealth for their own personal gain.

Our Commonwealth is being sold cheaply to foreign interests who have corrupted our system by working with a few local people who will move you with money for their own purpose. They do not care about you. They do not care about the Commonwealth. They do not care that thousands of our people are suffering, hungry, drug-or-gambling-addicted, or that people are being murdered on our islands.

These local lobbyists and former politicians only care about electing IT so that they continue to get jobs and money for themselves and their families. That’s what they care about.

Our people have changed. Our islands will change and not for the good if we keep moving in this direction. For 10 years we have been governed by mostly self-serving politicians and a few but powerful and wealthy business interests. They do not share their wealth. And they want more from you.

We have many problems in the Commonwealth. As a physician I am shocked a the state of the hospital. The hardworking doctors don’t even have adequate medical supplies, medicine, or equipment to deliver adequate care to the islands’ residents. And there aren’t enough doctors, nurses and technicians to serve our population. Those with wealth can go to the Philippines or the United States for treatment but most have to stay here.

I am asking you to hold these people responsible for our problems. Do not give them another chance.

A vote for Eloy Inos and Ralph Torress means we give up on any hope of building a healthy society and surrender instead to a culture of greed and great wealth for some but hardship and pain for many, many more.

I am humbly asking those with a consience to think about the future of our islands and vote for Heinz S. Hofschneider and Ray N. Yumul in the runoff election. The soul of our islands is at stake. Our future depends on this vote.
