Dear elected CNMI officials
As a private citizen residing on Saipan for the past 20-some years, I am writing to express my frustrations to our elected leaders, especially the Mayor, Mr. David “Chang Tan” Apatang. It is a known fact that the back road leading to the college from District 1 was landscaped beautifully by the late mayor Donald Flores. Subsequently, Mayor Mary Ann Tudela also maintained our road beautification when she assumed the mayorship. Now, sad to say, the current Mayor David “Chang Tan” Apatang completely ignore this part of his responsibility in favor of extra beautification and staff time to his Chinese/Korean connections.
Honorable members of the Legislature, please open your eyes. Do not give any more additional money to Mayor David Apatang since he’s not giving attention to this road that is traveled by over a thousand local citizens on a daily basis. If funding is a problem, the mayor and his staff don’t need the luxury of having nice uniforms at the expense of many more worthwhile public expenditures, i.e., PSS and CHC. Better yet, cut this amount from the mayor’s budget and give it to Parks and Recrreation or Public Works so they can clean and beautify this road even if there are not many Chinese or Koreans using it.
If you honorable gentlemen ignore this important road, it will be a strong ammunition for the next election. Vice Speaker Demapan and Chairman Sablan, wake up and do your part as this is your precinct.
