Only one participant will be chosen to answer the question “Deal or No Deal?” similar to the popular television game show, which will highlight this year’s Pistang Pinoy slated for next month.

Bong Malasarte of the United Filipino Organization, which hosts the annual event coinciding with the Philippine Independence Day festivities, said yesterday that the group is now working on the contest mechanics.

Malasarte, however, revealed a major requirement of the contest: The sole contestant will be chosen among those who will buy the $1 raffle tickets at the Pistang Pinoy (Filipino Fiesta) grounds.

The 2012 Pistang Pinoy will take place at the Civic Center Park in Susupe on June 10 from 10am onwards or immediately after the Independence Day commemoration ceremony sponsored by the Philippine Consulate General.

According to Malasarte, their version of “Deal or No Deal” will also feature the briefcase ladies by having the contestants of the first ever Pusong Pinoy beauty pageant hold butane cases containing increment amounts of money up to $1,000, which is the highest possible prize to be won.

“We want to have something that would provide excitement and entertainment among the Filipinos in the community, so what better way than to have a version of a game show that we love to watch on TV,” he told Saipan Tribune.

Malasarte said they are now soliciting sponsors for the Pistang Pinoy event, which promises to be the most fun and enjoyable year ever as UFO has other “surprises” in store for all Filipinos and others who want to take part in the celebration.

He said this year’s event will also feature exhibition basketball games and teams that are participating in the UFO-sponsored leagues are all invited to participate in the two games in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Malasarte said they will also have an enhanced version of the cooking contest, which also serves as among the Pistang Pinoy attractions. More details will be made available soon, he added.

“We assure the community that we are doing our best to provide you with quality show and entertainment this year. We want to invite everyone to come celebrate Philippine Independence Day at Pistang Pinoy,” said Malasarte.
