Dandan nips SCS in middle school boys caging, 17-15

Dandan Middle School edged Saipan Community School, 17-15, in their duel in the IT&E Interscholastic Boys Middle School Basketball League 2021-2022 last Friday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

Zach Ladore gave the Tottots a 16-15 lead in the closing minutes of the match against the Guardians before Allan Hofnejas made 1 of 2 free throws to make it a 2-point lead. SCS then had a chance to send the match into overtime but misfired in their last offensive sets on the north court of the MHS gym.

Alex Sangalang paced Dandan with 10 points, while Ladore added 4 markers in the win. SCS was led by the 10 points of Elijah Ye with brother David adding the other 5 points.

On the south court of the MHS Gym, Saipan International School defeated Tanapag Middle School, 20-9. After a tight first half that saw the Geckos only leading by 3 points, 11-8. SIS then turned on the jets and limited the Tatagas to a single free throw en route to the 11-point win.

Aiden Camacho was the top scorer for SIS with 9 points, followed by the 7 points of Jackie Xu.

In the IT&E Interscholastic Co-ed Elementary School Basketball League 2021-2022 last Saturday, Koblerville Elementary School defeated William S. Reyes Elementary School, 22-4; San Vicente Elementary School 2 beat Brilliant Star School, 16-3; Kagman Elementary School thrashed SVES 2, 26-6; and KobES 2 thumped SVES 2, 26-4.

Both the IT&E Interscholastic Boys Middle School Basketball League 2021-2022 and the IT&E Interscholastic Co-ed Elementary School Basketball League 2021-2022 seasons are being organized by the Public School System Athletic Program with help from the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation.
