Gene’s Beauty Shop located on Middle Road Garapan knows that providing personalized customer care is how you engage with new and old customers. With 15 years of experience under famous mentors back in the Philippines, hairdresser and make-up artist Shine Vizcara said despite the pandemic, people come to their salon for much needed self-care and grooming.
“My expertise is overall hairstyling and to be honest, I am surprised with the number of clients we have who avail of our hair coloring service…What sets us apart from other salons is the special kind of care we give our customers once they go through the door in our salon,” he said.
“We always consider and make sure that our customer’s hair is healthy before and after our procedure. We offer several alternatives to ensure that the hair of our clients is beautiful beyond the initial week of the service and I offer clients to return to the shop for a quick shampoo after a couple of days so I can personally check on the progress of their hair and teach them how to take care of it,” he added.
Gene’s Beauty Shop offers a wide array of services which includes hair rebonding, Brazilian keratin, hair coloring, hair highlights, hair perm, hair reborn treatment, hot oil, haircut, hair and makeup styling, and more.
Vizcara said that since they are in the business of personal care, they are already used to hygienic procedures. “But with the COVID-19 pandemic, we take our safety protocols very seriously. Currently, we are not allowed to have waiting customers in the shop so we are operating almost entirely by appointment. Walk-ins are welcome to check if we can service them but it is encouraged they call first and set an appointment.”
“We have to sanitize our tools after every customer, enforce the wearing of facemasks for both employees and customers, and implement social distancing with other clients,” he added.
Operating a business such as a salon during the pandemic may entail unique difficulties but Vizacara is up to the challenge. “I just want our clients to feel better about themselves and to know that the service which they availed of was worth it. I take a lot of time, sometimes a basic hair cut takes me 45 minutes, because I want to make sure our customers are happy with the result and they glow with happiness when they leave,” he said.
“One of the favorite comments that I receive from clients is when they say they will come back to our beauty shop. It makes me feel like I took care of them really well which is my top priority,” he added.
