CUC to purchase bucket trucks and equipment

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. will be purchasing bucket trucks and equipment to help with their operation.

At their meeting on Tuesday, the CUC board approved the purchase and delegated chief financial officer Matthew Yaquinto to handle the procurement procedures.

Up to six bucket trucks and some equipment will be purchased amounting to between $500,000 and $600,000.

An offer made by Primary Sources from Colorado was mentioned at the meeting.

Board member Joe Torres said they need to notify Primary Sources of their interest in the offer.

Last October, six bucket trucks were flown in from Colorado to assist in the rebuilding efforts in the wake of Typhoon Soudelor.

CUC will be issuing a request for proposal for the purchase of bucket trucks.

“We still have to follow procurement rules and issue an RFP, but we just acknowledged that we received the offer,” Yaquinto said in an interview.

CUC has about four bucket trucks that Yaquinto said are already old.

“These are greatly needed to help our operation,” he said.
