CUC to expand water hours

Acting Commonwealth Utilities Corp. executive director John Riegel says they will be announcing today extended water service hours in the island’s villages.

Riegel said once the hours are figured out they will be announced.

“We are expanding our water hours. We have water in all villages,” with some spots in outlying areas without water, Riegel said.

“We were hunting for those [spots] today and will continue tomorrow,” he added.

CUC has 145 wells. Only 56—or a third of them—were running as of last Friday.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been working with CUC on energizing water pumps, installing generators strategically across island.

Meantime, CUC continues to work on the island feeders and are awaiting the arrival of more power poles and materials.

“We are continuing to run the feeders out,” Riegel said.

The number of feeders energized remains the same as last week. These are Feeders 1, 3, and 4.
