CUC sets hours for water service

Share

Following the completion of extensive line testing, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. announced yesterday the schedule for limited water service in the villages of San Antonio, Chalan Kanoa, Susupe, Oleai, San Jose, and Chalan Kiya.

The village of San Antonio will receive water between the hours of 8am and 1pm daily.

The villages of Chalan Kanoa, Susupe, San Jose, and Oleai will receive water on a rotating schedule that will change every other day, as follows:

– Chalan Kanoa will receive water between the hours of 6pm and 8am on days with odd numbers, and 1pm to 6pm on days with even numbers.

– The villages of Susupe, San Jose, and Oleai will receive water between the hours of 1pm and 6pm on days with odd numbers, and between the hours of 6pm and 8am on days with even numbers.

The village of Chalan Kiya receives water from a direct feed from the Dueñas wells, which allows CUC to provide daily 24-hour water service to the village’s lower elevations.

Please note that the limited water service hours are subject to change based on the volume of water coming into CUC’s tanks.

Additional locations

The expansion of limited water service will continue as Engineering and Operations personnel attempt to pressurize the water lines in the vicinity of Capital Hill, Kagman, and Marpi. In advance of the testing process, CUC asks that all household water faucets and hose bibs in the area are turned off as water begins to fill the distribution lines.

In the coming days and weeks, CUC will continue to expand limited water service to Saipan. Within the next week, CUC expects to provide water to Navy Hill, Chinatown, Upper Miha, As Matuis, San Roque, Tanapag, Capital Hill, Kagman, and As Teo.

Safety precaution

As a precaution, all water provided by CUC will need to be sanitized until further notice through the use of chlorine bleach or boiling before it can be used by the community.

FOR BOILING: Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

FOR CHLORINATING: Alternatively, customers may also disinfect their water with bleach using the following measurements:

NOTE: Allow the water to stand in a covered container, away from the sunlight, if possible, for at least 30 minutes.
