There will be a power outage in Garapan today, Aug. 25, Friday, from 9am to 1pm, to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to replace three 100KVA transformers with three 37.5 KVA pole mounted transformers.

Areas affected by today’s power interruption are Kadena di Amor and Chichirica Avenue in Garapan. This is part of the ongoing program to improve the efficiency of power distribution throughout Saipan.

Tomorrow, Aug. 26, there will be a power interruption on Beach Road from 5:30am to 10:30am, from Triple J Motors south to the traffic light by Atkins Kroll Toyota.

Wastewater lifts station to be affected is S-12 and traffic light affected is San Jose (near Atkins Kroll Toyota).

This will allow CUC line crew to safely four wooden power poles with concrete poles along Beach Road. This is part of an ongoing hazard mitigation project that involves the replacement of 787 wooden poled with concrete poles.

A total of 303 wooden poles have already been replaced with concrete ones and there are still 484 poles that need to be replaced.

There will also be a power outage on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, from 9am to 12pm to allow CUC line crew to relocate the main primary power pole and primary line along Isa Drive on Capital Hill.

The relocation work is required to be performed for the proposed Cross Island Road Improvement Phase 3 Project.

Areas to be affected include Haat Pl., Deloitte building, Mate Drive, Hafno Street, and Sagua Drive—all on Capital Hill.

Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.
