CUC meter readers surveying water leaks and damaged pipes
Meter readers of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. are performing house-to-house assessments of electric and water meters throughout Saipan and Tinian.
These ongoing surveys will assist in detecting damage for safety and water leaks that would prevent continuous water distribution to households.
CUC encourages the public to report any and all water leaks and damage to pipes that may result in severe water level losses.
Customers are urged to shut off main water valves to preserve the water supply and not to tamper with meters and to maintain access to water meters by keeping it clear of debris.
As CUC assesses damage, metering equipment may be removed to stop leaks and waste of water. Customers are urged to repair broken pipes up to the water meter immediately so the water meter may be returned and water service can be restored to their homes.
As for power, as CUC assesses damage, metering equipment may be removed for safety if determined that the weather head or meter base is damaged or unsafe.
Residents are advised that damaged weather heads and meter bases must be repaired by the homeowners in anticipation of power services being energized.
Residents can call the CUC Call Center at 664-4282 to request for an inspection of their repaired electric equipment or to let CUC know when broken or leaking pipes are repaired.
The community is asked to immediately report tampering or any suspicious activity to the Department of Public Safety and the Call Center at 664-4282.
