The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. explained yesterday that the power interruption on July 13 that lasted from 1:57pm to 2:22pm was due to an accidental discharge of a transformer that led to the loss of energy in four distribution circuits.

The outage affected only the southern part of the island.

“CUC was conducting maintenance work at its power generation facility when an accidental discharge of a step-up transformer led to the de-energization of four distribution circuits. …Once the step-up transformer was ready to put back into service, CUC’s technical team promptly re-energized the affected distribution circuits,” it said.

Meanwhile, the water service outage in As Lito, As Perdido, Airport Road Dandan, Chalan Monsignor Martinez and Koblerville areas yesterday, July 13, was due to a 6-inch water main break on Airport Road that was identified yesterday afternoon at 3pm.

Dandan Water operations personnel were making the necessary repairs yesterday that was expected to be completed at 6am.
