CUC continues search for management posts

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s repeated nationwide searches for a deputy executive director appear to have come up short but more interviews are scheduled this month.

In its most recent report to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on court-ordered projects, the position of deputy executive director remains incomplete after a due date of January last year.

CUC reports to EPA on these projects. A deputy executive director, among other posts, are required under stipulated order No. 1, which also covers water and wastewater projects

In its report, CUC said their third nationwide search for qualified applicants to fill the vacant position is ongoing.

“An interview listing of the most recent qualified applicants is in process and interviews will be occurring in May,” CUC wrote.

The CUC report also noted that the required “chief financial officer” item is now complete. CUC hired Matthew Yaqunito last month. He began at CUC on April 17.

Other unfilled positions is a drinking water and wastewater division manager, according to the April report. The last manager resigned in September last year.

“CUC is currently recruiting for the position by first contacting eligible applicants on file,” the report states. A nationwide search is ongoing and candidates are being processed.

The report also lists the “executive director” item as complete. However, the current executive director, Alan Fletcher, is set to depart July.
