The Senate is getting ready to approve several nominations today on Capitol Hill at 1:30pm.

The Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations has already released their committee reports for the appointments of Vincent Attao as Department of Corrections commissioner, Weston Thomas Deleon Guerrero as a Commonwealth Utilities Corp. board member, and Charles Cepeda and Zenie Mafnas as members of the Northern Marianas College board of regents.

The most recent public hearing was held last Thursday.

A structural engineering graduate of University of California, San Diego, Deleon Guerrero said that following the CUC ordeal surrounding the procurement of a 10-megawatt generator is what triggered his inspiration.

“My first priority is to be familiar with everybody at CUC. I would be open to the floor for everyone in CUC and that the board—myself at least—is going to hear them out on issues that they have,” he said.

Deleon Guerrero is a graduate of Mount Carmel School in 2005. He is currently with Hofschneider Engineering. Prior to his current job, Deleon Guerrero was acting building safety official at the Department of Public Works.

Mafnas and Cepeda, who are the nominees for the NMC board also previously served the college as past appointees. Mafnas was appointed by Lt. Gov. Victor B. Hocog, while Cepeda acted as board chair back in 2008.
