CUC announces power interruptions Saturday

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. would like to inform the general public that there will be emergency power interruptions on the following date, times and locations:

Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 (8:30am-11:30am)

Outage type: Sectionalized feeder outage on the Feeder 1 (partial) and Feeder 3 double distribution circuit.

Village location: Chalan Pale Arnold Road in Garapan.

Areas affected: Garapan Elementary School, Kristo Rai Church, Upper Miha, Chinatown, Flores Rosa Street in Garapan, Best Sunshine, Northern Gualo Rai, As Falape and the Entire Sugar King area.

Traffic Light Intersections affected: Chinatown/Middle Road Traffic Light Intersection and Gualo Rai/Middle Road Traffic Light Intersection.

Water wells affected: GR-151, GR-154, GR-4 and GR-5 (Entire Gualo Rai area)

Wastewater lift stations affected: S-4

Pole replacements: 4

Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 (3:30am-6pm)

Outage type: Sectionalized feeder outage on the Feeder 1 (partial) and Feeder 3 double distribution circuit

Areas affected: Northern Sadog Tasi, Puerto Rico (Pattida Drive, Saluda Street, Pantalan Circle, Puerto Rico Drive), Social Security Building, Bank of Hawaii (Puerto Rico) and the Shell Gas Station (Puerto Rico)

Traffic Light Intersections affected: Puerto Rico/Middle Road Traffic Light Intersection

Water wells affected: CL2, CL5, CL Booster Station, Maui 4 Shaft, Maui Sump Tank, Maui Pumping Station, PR 164,RP1,RP Chlorine Station (Lower/Upper Navy Hill, Chinatown and As Falape). Customers should expect restoration of regular water services on Jan. 27, 2019 by 7:30am.

Wastewater lift stations affected: Sadog Tasi Northern Sewer Treatment System

Pole replacements: 3

The purpose of the power interruptions is to de-energize utility lines and allow CUC linemen the ability to conduct maintenance of the power distribution system through the replacement of wooden poles with concrete poles at the aforementioned locations listed. The scheduled power interruptions are a continuation of CUC’s ongoing Super Typhoon Yutu restoration that focuses on strengthening and hardening CUC’s power distribution system through the replacement of wooden poles with concrete poles.

Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the working area.
