CTSI Petmalu triumphs in opener

CTSI Petmalu drew first blood in Saipan Soccer School’s 2018 Youth Futsal Tournament after beating Betde, 3-1, in their co-ed U12 division game at the newly installed artificial turf at the TSL Sports Complex last Sunday.

Pia Ngewakl, Audrey Castro, and Carvin Cruzat scored for CTSI Petmalu, while Julie Anna Capayas made the lone goal for Betde. Joining Pia, Audrey, and Cruzat on the winning squad are Wallace Sablan, Philip Megino, Nolan Ngewakl, John Santiago, Kristoffer Pascual, and Jose Camacho. Santiago and Pascual played as goalies for CTSI Petmalu and recorded 13 and three saves, respectively.

Mark Chavez was Betde’s goalie and had 10 saves. Completing Betde’s roster are Mark’s sister Kaitlynn, Riza Relucio, Mark Ryan Costales, Wataru Kadokura, Anthony Austria, Mark Jose ad C.J. Roque, and Eros Estolas.

In the other co-ed U12 division match, Tinsel Toes topped Ali’i, 6-2.

Ruben Guerrero knocked in a pair of goals for Tinsel Toes, which drew one goal each from Leland Deleon Guerrero and Sophia Quintos. Jared Terlaje and Vicente Reyes are Tinsel Toes’ goalies and combined for five saves. Other members of the squad are Markus Toves, Devin Propst, Ramana Salas, and Sean and Becky.

Ye Jin made two goals for Ali’i, which also has Paul Lizama, Silvestre Ilo, Christopher Daikichy, Zoei and Zander Thomas Gray, Joshua Park, Narhya Mersai, Isaiah Jolo, and Isaiah Chargualaf as members. Ilo, Jolo, and Chargualaf manned the goal for Ali’i and totaled for nine saves.

Meanwhile, in the co-ed U15 division, Fake Madrid and Betde United defeated their respective opponents.

Fake Madrid pounded Marianas United, 22-1, for a rousing start in the tournament. Kaden Church and Paulynn Joyce scored five goals each and got a lot of help from their teammates. Rintaro Miyawaki and Katrina Costales chipped in four goals apiece, Rinto Takahashi made two, and Oliver Fajardo and Blake Mister contributed one each. Max Church tallied the lone goal for Marianas United.

Betde United duplicated Fake Madrid’s debut win after outclassing CNMI United, 6-3. Taka Borja and Brandon Tenorio posted two goals each, while Shairmaine Francisco had one for Betde United, which got an own goal in the second half. Merrick Toves drilled all three goals for CNMI United.

Beside the co-ed U12 and U15 games, three more matches in the U18 division were played in the opening day of the tournament and results of the triple-header will be reported in Saipan Tribune’s Wednesday issue.
