CPA to reinstate parking charges

The Commonwealth Port Authority will be reinstating its parking booth at the the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport this September, which means parking will, again, be charged for those who use the airport’s common parking area starting Sept. 15.

According to a public notice that CPA issued yesterday, the CPA wants to inform the public that it will be reinstating the charges for the parking booth at the Saipan airport and will resume daily operations starting Sept. 15, 2022.

As to how the booth work, the system dispenses a plastic card upon entry and the card is returned when exiting. The system then reads the elapsed time between entry and exit and indicates the appropriate charge.

A fee of $2 will be charged for the first hour or fraction of that and an additional $2 for each additional hour or fraction of an hour.

The maximum charge for each 24-hour period is $15 and for each additional hour or fraction of an hour, an additional $2 will be charged.

A customer who loses a parking card will be charged $15 for the lost card and will also be charged the appropriate parking fee for the time parked. The customer with the lost parking card may be required to park on the side to allow other customers to exit first and then give time for the parking booth attendant to check the system to resolve the matter.

A customer with a valid accessible parking placard will not be charged any parking fee as long as the person who was issued the placard is present in the vehicle.

All parking fees are non-refundable.
