Federal agents arrested yesterday a Commonwealth Ports Authority police sergeant for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine or “ice.”

Floyd Mafnas Mendiola was served with an arrest warrant after the filing of an indictment that charges him with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

The indictment was filed under seal in federal court on May 20, 2014. U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona unsealed the case yesterday following Mendiola’s arrest.

Manglona allowed Mendiola’s temporarily release to a third party custodian upon posting a $25,000 unsecured bond.

According to the indictment, from Feb. 27, 2013, through March 2, 2013, Mendiola conspired with other persons to distribute “ice.” No other details were provided in the indictment.

Court-appointed counsel Joseph Horey appeared for Mendiola at the hearing. Assistant U.S. attorney Ross Naughton represented the U.S. government.
