COVID update: 0 hospitalizations; 24 new cases
Since May 2 until last Monday, no one in the CNMI has been hospitalized due to COVID-19—a trend that has been maintained in the CNMI since April 4, 2022.
The latest news release from the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. indicate that, as of May 9, 2022, there was no individuals hospitalized due to COVID-19. The last time the CNMI recorded a hospitalization from COVID-19 was March 30, 2022.
Also, 24 more individuals have been confirmed positive for COVID-19, bringing the CNMI total to 11,305 cases since March 28, 2020.
Of the 24 cases, 11 were identified on May 2, four on May 3, two on May 5, three on May 6, three on May 7, and one on May 8.
Of the total number of cases that have been identified in the CNMI, there have already been 11,262 recoveries and 34 COVID-19-related deaths. A total of 10,383 were identified via community testing and 922 via travel testing.
The next CHCC report will be on May 16, 2022.
As of May 9, 2022, a total of 23,138 COVID-19 additional/booster vaccine shots have been administered; of the eligible population, 62% have received an additional dose. The vaccination rate is calculated using the 2020 Census population estimates for the CNMI and includes the eligible 5-years-old and older population.

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 should stay home and isolate when they are sick (except to get medical care), even if they do not have symptoms; rest; stay hydrated; can take over-the-counter medicines, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, to relieve symptoms; and live COVID-19 safe.
