COVID concerns as the sports world turns

Of Play and Players in the Time Of COVID

“The play’s the thing
Wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the king.”

 —Hamlet, Act II, Scene 2

Of play and players in the time of COVID-19
a new billion-dollar home w/no live fans for the Raiders
across the nation and the world a surreal sports scene
COVID gains more fear than Voldemort and 19 Darth Vaders
stadiums contain photos of fans seated in the stands
COVID cases mount daily among healthy team players
schedules and games change as coronavirus demands
sports go on despite NO tickets for fans and less players.

On Saipan island a CNMI sports broadcaster writes poems
fans all over the world miss their hometown arenas
COVID couch potatoes play with remotes in their homes
peaceful social distance between international ballerinas
in Moscow dancing Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf
while down in More-Old-Ego guess who’s playing golf?

Chubby Cheeks as COVID-19 Speaks

Children distant learning in silence can’t buy it
chubby cheeks, good diet, COVID lurks don’t try it
I am doing great, put on weight, an old man’s fate,
too much on my plate, however I relish and relate.

The poetry rolls out on cyber scrolls despite the trolls
lately much on corona virus and acquisition of old age
seems to mutate daily on each and every notebook page
hey this is turning into a sonnet but not yet enough on it.

Time teasing of future Zooms puts a bee under my bonnet
now I wait for this message to race through cyberspace
can’t get any vaccine appointment at all for my spouse
as we go stir crazy in our non COVID isolation house.

Sunny cool Snow Moon temperatures in Vegas Valley today
now if only COVID-19 and its new mutations would go away.
