(Clarissa V. Concepcion said yesterday that the counting will be the first and the last for the five Liberation Queen hopefuls, who were each given 100 booklets to sell.

Yesterday, Concepcion issued to the candidates’ parents 100 more booklets to be sold. Tickets cost $1 each or $5 per booklet containing six tickets.

This year’s candidates, who were formally introduced to the public in a pinning ceremony last Friday, are Carmelyn Agaulto, Loria Dee Ada Hocog, Maria Angelica Malasarte, Lydee Rose Sablan Pangelinan, and Susanne Park.

The five young ladies made their first public appearance at the Pistang Pinoy (Filipino Fiesta) hosted by the United Filipino Organization on June 10 at the Civic Center Beach Park.

Accompanied by Concepcion, the Liberation Queen candidates waved miniature Philippine flags as they went on stage to be introduced to the crowd.

“For some of the candidates, it was their first time to attend the event and it was a great experience for them,” Concepcion told Saipan Tribune.

According to Concepcion, the young ladies are starting to get to know each other and becoming more open, despite the limited time they have to bond with one another.

To give the Liberation Queen candidates more publicity, they will be granting interviews to radio stations on island and making an appearance at the Garapan Street Market on Thursdays.

“I want them to be more exposed and it will be a good experience for them,” said Concepcion, adding that a plan involving a visit to Managaha for fun and recreation is also in the offing.

After the counting of tickets on June 30, the 2012 Liberation Queen will be crowned on July 2, at 7pm at the festival grounds.

“We encourage the public to support our five young and beautiful candidates by buying their tickets,” added Concepcion.
