Effective April 5, 2020, the fixed-route bus service of the Commonwealth Office of Transport Authority will be suspended indefinitely due to a low number of riders.

The bus service, called the Flame Tree Line 1A, is the only fixed-route public transportation system on the island of Saipan. It was first implemented on April 9, 2018, as a pilot project.

In an announcement last week, COTA said that those who will be affected by this suspension of the bus line can still use the COTA demand response service (Call-A-Ride Saipan) to go to places of employment, medical appointments, etc.

For more information, contact COTA at (670) 664-2682 or email Diego B. Songsong, community planner/Title VI coordinator, at diego.songsong@gov.mp. (PR)
