COTA offers free ride to career fair
The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority is offering free roundtrip rides to the general public for the 2014 Northern Marianas College Career Fair on April 3, 2014.
The Career Fair starts at 9am and will end at 12pm. Advance reservation is required to avail of the free roundtrip ride.
Those interested and plan to attend but have no access to transportation are encouraged to call COTA and reserve their ride in advance.
In other news, the service hours of COTA Call-a-Ride Service effectively changed on March 15, 2014.
Call-a-Ride Saipan service hours are now from 6am to 9pm from Mondays to Fridays. Saturdays is from 7am to 6pm and the service is closed on Sundays and holidays.
Reservation hours will be from 8am to 8pm on Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays will be from 8am to 4pm. Also, a new reservation number will soon come into action and will be changed to (670) 664-2690; transit information will be 511.
The reason for this is the increased number of people availing of the service. In February alone, the number of trips totaled 544. The trips included 223 to residences, 87 for medical needs, 80 for work, 71 for public assistance, 21 for banks, 20 for school or college, 15 for diners, 10 for shopping, nine for recreational, seven for utilities, and one for the post office.
The service fleet includes two accessible full-size passenger vans and one back up or repair vehicle. There are about four transit operators.
