Cops re-arrest sex abuse defendant hours after his case was dismissed
Police re-arrested on Tuesday night a 49-year-old man who had just been released from prison that afternoon after the Superior Court found no probable cause to charge him of sexually abusing two girls.
Police re-arrested Miguel Cecilio Arrozal in Susupe at 6:18pm after Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho issued an arrest warrant against him at 4:48pm that same day.
Camacho issued the arrest warrant after police re-filed the case against Arrozal.
At a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Camacho determined that assistant attorney general Teri Tenorio, counsel for the government, failed to ask the witness in the case any questions as to two counts of disturbing the peace.
Camacho said that Tenorio also failed to ask the witness in the case any questions as to the identification of Arrozal and his age.
Camacho dismissed the four charges without prejudice, which means the prosecution could re-file the case.
Camacho also ordered Arrozal’s release from custody.
Arrozal was accused of sexually abusing two girls, aged 8 and 10, last May on Saipan.
