Cop’s house in As Lito shot repeatedly

A house of a patrol police officer in As Lito was shot repeatedly with a rifle Wednesday late afternoon.

A source at the Department of Public Safety disclosed that three bullets from a rifle hit the concrete wall and that no one was hurt.

The officer was not in the house as he was working at that time.

The source said the wife, however, was in the house when the shooting happened.

Police officers responded but could not find anyone from the jungle area, where the shooter possibly positioned to shoot.

Police detectives responded to the scene and searched for the gun’s shells and other evidence.

The handgun ownership issue has been a hot topic in the social media in the past few days after U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona declared as unconstitutional the CNMI’s gun control law that prohibits all residents from obtaining handguns for self-defense purposes.

Manglona’s order landed on headlines of local newspapers Thursday.
