Commonwealth Utilities Corp. eased past TanHoldings 2/CTSI 91-66, while Mobil-COAG defeated Hawaiian Rock, 74-71, in the 2018 JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation League last Saturday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.

CUC pulverized TanHoldings after scoring at least 20 points in each of the four quarters.

Eugene Manglona led CUC’s demolition of TanHoldings 2, as he delivered 24 points in the first half, which wrapped up with his team enjoying a 48-28 advantage.

Manglona ended up top-scoring for CUC with his 36 points and drew help from Rey Pestillos, John Santos, and John Nekaifes, who also delivered twin digits. Pestillos had 23 markers, while Santos and Nekaifes added 13 and 11, respectively.

Nak Nakashima paced TanHoldings 2 with his 18 points, while Matt Buenabajo chipped in 17.

In the second half, Mobil won a seesaw battle, thanks to the crucial baskets of Alvin Almario.

Almario scored Mobil’s last 6 points to finish with a game-high 26 markers. He had 9 in the fourth quarter, which started with Mobil behind by a hair, 53-54.

Earlier in the second period, Mobil was ahead, 39-35, as Almario made 8 points and and Anthony Wenceslao and Edwin Torres teamed up for 8 markers.

Hawaiian Rock, which was on top by 3 after the first period, 21-18, regained the upper hand in the third behind the combined 15 points of Jampes Reyes and Bobby Dela Cruz. However, Hawaiian Rock failed to keep the shaky lead when Almario hit clutch baskets in the end for Mobil.
