The Comets I and Falcons won in contrasting fashion in the Junior division games in the 2018 Saipan Little League Baseball last Friday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
Comets I romped to a 20-5 decision over Comets II, while the Falcons squeezed out a 6-3 victory against the NSA Braves.
Sneak Sumor pitched for five innings with no earned runs, giving up two hits—a single to R.J. Muna in the third and a double to Jason Reyes in the fifth. He walked seven and struck out three.
Nate Aizon closed out for Comets I, allowing a single to Alvin Hocog, after Corney Izkawa got on base and scored on errors. Hocog, however, was out at home on a Jesus Sablan fielder’s choice for the first out.
Comets I turned to its defense again with Sablan caught out while trying to reach third base and the game ended when Justin Monkeya caught a Deven Sablan infield fly.
Justin Agulto went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs, while J.P. Castro scored three times and had an RBI double after going 2-for-2. Aizon and Bing Nakamura each batted 2-for-4 with the former having two RBI triples and the latter reaching home plate three times. Aizon scored one run, while Nakamura drove in Sumor, who had a triple, with a triple of his own.
Falcons 6, Braves 3
Joel Gildilak pitched a complete game to help the Falcons get past the Braves. He gave up no earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
Willie Cabrera, with one out, had an RBI triple in the second inning to bring in Lucio Aldan, who walked and reached home on a passed ball.
The Falcons scored their three other runs off the Braves’ errors.
