Contractor ruptures, repairs service lateral near Achugao

Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in the villages of San Roque and Tanapag experienced a temporary water service interruption yesterday when a contractor working along the road near Achugao accidentally ruptured a service lateral in the area.

The contractor immediately notified CUC about the line break and Water Operations personnel were dispatched to the area to close the nearest valve, which interrupted service to San Roque and Tanapag at 9am. The contractor then repaired the damaged line and service was restored to the area at 4pm.

CUC is a non-profit autonomous agency of the CNMI government. The utility provides electric power, water and wastewater services to the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
