HAGATNA, Guam (AP)—Completion of the new Guam museum has been delayed because of complications with the construction.

Pacific Daily News reports the museum was slated to have opened in December.

Guam Economic Development Authority project coordinator Larry Toves says the opening is now set for the third quarter of this year.

Toves says issues with pile foundations caused the delay of the museum, which will be called the Guam and Chamorro Educational Facility.

The pile foundations are concrete columns driven into the ground to support a structure that would be constructed on weak layers of soil.

The museum construction site was once swampland.
