Guam to mail out $24.4M in tax refunds
HAGATNA, Guam—The Department of Revenue & Taxation and the Department of Administration will mail 10,668 tax refund checks totaling approximately $24.4 million including refunds garnished to repay government debts for error free returns filed on or before March 31, 2019. Due to the thousands of returns being processed, checks will be mailed between today and Monday. Friends of the Arts special members meeting
Come and join us for a special occasion, a Friends of the Arts members meeting, today, Sept. 25, at the Infino Restaurant. Come and enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and musical entertainment by the Marianas High School Glee Club and the Community Choir.
Meet the FOA board and its members and sponsors. The dinner cost is $16 for adults and $8 for children under 11 in age. The Infino Restaurant is located on Beach Road in Garapan in the Star Sands Hotel where Tony’s Seafood used to be located, next to QQ Car Rental and across Beach Road from Johnny’s and Cheers. Military to conduct training in open ocean
SANTA RITA, Guam—The U.S. Navy will conduct open-ocean exercises from 8am to 4pm on Sept. 24 and 25 within a 10-nautical-mile radius of the following coordinates: 13 ̊03’’N/144 ̊51’’E, 13 ̊03’’N/144 ̊70’’E, 12 ̊86’’N/144 ̊70’’E, and 12 ̊86’’N/144 ̊51’’E.
It is recommended the general public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. (PR)
The SIS 5K Fun Run is back!
After many years SIS is hosting another 5K Fun Run. Along with the Gecko 5000 Cross Country Invitational, more than 200 participants will be heading to Banzai Cliff and Last Command on Sept. 28, 2019. Registration is at 6am and start time is a 6:30am.
There are prizes and shirts for the fun/run participants. You can register the same day of the event or pre-register at SIS Office. Cross Country runners must register through their coach before the event.
All proceeds will go to purchase much needed instructional materials for all grades. (PR)
Inspections for pest breeding sites
The Bureau of Environmental Health, together with the Saipan Mayor’s Office, Bureau of Environmental & Coastal Quality, Department of Public Lands, and Zoning Office, is going into the villages on Saipan to inspect an d remove debris that could become breeding sites for pests like mosquitoes and rodents, as well as animals that carry disease.
The inspections will begin in Koblerville, San Antonio, Afetna, and Chalan Kanoa, before moving north. The public is advised to leash their dogs for the safety of the inspectors.

Pro-life walk/roll on Sept. 27, 2019
Grace Christian Ministries Navy Hill is inviting the public to join them for a candlelight prayer walk/roll on Friday, Sept. 27, at 5:30pm, at the Minachom Atdao. Its purpose is to pray over the many needs of the island related to the issue of abortion. After the worship songs and prayer there will be a walk/roll to Quartermaster Road then back to Minachon Atdao. (PR)
