Lions Club to celebrate 25th anniversary
In celebration of its 25th year anniversary in the CNMI, the Saipan Fil-American Lions Club will be a host a fundraiser called “The Ultimate Drag Queen 2017” on Nov. 4 at the Royal Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort, with VIP tickets priced at $25 and general admission at $10. Proceeds will be used for the club’s community projects like improvement of road signage along the Beach Road Pathway and the annual Christmas gift-giving campaign to underprivileged children, among others. Fourteen candidates will be competing; the top 5 will be receiving cash prizes, sashes, bouquets, and a crown. All non-winners will have consolation prizes. The show will be choreographed and directed by Ernie Molina. Half-day at MHS

PTSA meeting for Kagman cluster schools
The Kagman cluster schools will be having a PTSA meeting today, Sept. 21, 2017, from 5pm to 6pm. Topics to be discussed: School budget proposals, committee support, uniforms, betel nut consequences at the high school level and more! There will be a cake raffle. FOA presents one-act comedies
The Friends of the Arts’ first production of the new season, One-Act Comedy Night, presents comedies written by David Ives, Robert Anderson, and Shel Silverstein and will be performed by Cherlyn Cabrera, Harold Easton, Neil Fama, Gios Gozon, Maria Mettao, Deirdre Rosete, Chuck Sayon, Emma Timmons, Rinisa Torres, Kristine Wolf, and Les Wolf. It will be directed by Harold Easton and staged at the Dolphin Theatre inside the Marianas High School campus, and will run on the evenings of Sept. 22, 23, and 24 at 7pm. Glory Gervacio, director of the EEOC’s Honolulu Office, along with Jenna Grambort and Sebastian Aloot from the U.S. Department of Justice, Washington, D.C., will be presenting on updates and current issues on the topic “Equal Employment Opportunity and Civil Rights” at a meeting of the Society for Human Resource Management NMI Chapter on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s SandCastle, from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
