Free lecture on Chamorro language research

A presentation on The Chamorro Language across Islands and Generations will be given on Rota (Sept. 15), Saipan (Sept. 18), and Tinian (Sept. 22). This is a report on the latest research into Chamorro language processing by the Chamorro Psycholinguistics na Project team of Sandy Chung, Matt Wagers, and Manny F. Borja. The presentation on Rota will be at the Mayor’s Office at 9am, the presentation on Saipan will be at the American Memorial Park at 6pm, and the presentation on Tinian will be at the Gineftao Center at 5:30pm. The presentation is free to the public and all are welcome. (PR)

Navy, Air Force training in Agat Bay

ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force will conduct training at Agat Bay Sept. 11 from noon to 4pm and Sept. 12 from 8am to noon. The exercise is designed to enhance the training and readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see and hear increased activity associated with the exercise.

RCUOG regular meeting announcement

The regular meeting of the Research Corporation of the University of Guam will be held Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at 2pm in the SBPA Graduate Classroom No. 262 on the second floor of the Jesus S. and Eugenia A. Leon Guerrero Building. The RCUOG complies with Guam Public Law 24-109 with reference to the provisions and requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Commonwealth Cancer Association’s board of directors will be holding its regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at 3pm at the CCA conference room. Navy training at Warning Area 517

ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on Sept. 12 from 6am to 11:59pm. The general public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and date indicated. W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. (PR)
