Join the Marianas Writers’ Movement
A free writing workshop about the first step to planning your novel is set for Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, from 1pm to 3pm at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library. This project is part of the “Rekindling Marianas Narratives: Write Your Novel!” mini-grant program and is made possible by support from the Northern Marianas Humanities Council, a non-profit, private corporation funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities. (PR)
Releasing of renewed PH passports
The Philippine Consulate General in Guam, in coordination with the Office of Honorary Consul Eli Arago, is releasing passports to those who renewed their Philippine passports last Aug. 15, 16, and 17, 2019. You can pick up the new passports at Finasisu Terraces Apartment Bldg. D, second floor, on top of the Mini-Mart Store, Monday-Friday, from 9am to 5pm (12-1pm breaktime).
Bring your old passport and receipt. If someone else will pick up the passport, an authorization letter from the applicant/s is needed. For any inquiry or more details, call Mel Santos at 233-6293. (PR)
NGSWCDB meeting set
The Northern Guam Soil and Water Conservation District Board will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, Oct. 4, at the University of Guam, College of Natural and Applied Sciences Bldg., Room 104 at 1:30pm. The annual joint meeting with Southern Guam Soil and Water Conservation District Board is scheduled at 2:30p.m. All government agency and non-government partners are invited to attend. (PR)
Writers’ workshop on Oct. 19
Local writer Walt Goodridge will lead a writers’ workshop on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library. In this interactive three-hour workshop, he will share step-by-step instructions on how to start your book project, overcome “writer’s block,” find the best and worst times to write, edit, layout and publish independently and even go from idea to sales in 24 hours or less. Goodridge is author of over two dozen books. This workshop on Oct 19, is from 9am to 12pm, at the Joeten Kiyu Public Library’s video teleconference room. Admission is $10 in advance, and $12 at the door. Twenty percent of admission proceeds will be donated directly to the library. Seating is limited. To register, visit the front desk of the library. Guam outreach meetings on MCP’s
The Guam Department of Agriculture’s Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources will be holding village outreach meetings for the Marine Conservation Plan at the following locations, dates, and time:
Inarajan Community Center on Oct. 3, 2019 at 6:30pm
Dededo Senior Center on Oct. 4, 2019, at 6:30pm.
The MCP contains conservation and management objectives, as well as prioritize planned projects to be funded and undertaken for the period of 2020-2023. Fishers and the community are encouraged to participate in the meetings to express their ideas and opinions during the development of the MCP.
