Scheduled power outages
There will be scheduled power interruptions on Oct. 20 and Oct. 23.
On Oct. 20, 2018, the outage will occur from 5am to 12pm and will affect Chalan Pale Arnold in Chalan Laulau. It will affect the Middle Road and Quartermaster traffic light intersections. No water well service area or wastewater service area will be affected. One power pole will be replaced.
The Oct. 23 power outage will affect Industrial Drive in Lower Base. It will also affect the Chalan Pale Arnold Road in Puerto Rico.
No water well service area will be affected but the wastewater service area in Sadog Tasi and Puerto Rico will be affected.
The purpose of the power interruptions is to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. linemen to replace wooden poles with concrete poles. These are a continuation of CUC’s Hazard Mitigation Project to replace 787 wooden poles with concrete ones. So far, 774 pole replacements have been made by CUC and its contractor.

Deadline to comment on OVR policy reset
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the State Rehabilitation Council would like to announce that the deadline for submission of public comments on OVR’s revisions to its Supported Employment Policy has been extended to Oct. 31, 2018. Andersen Air Force Base sets annual exercise
Andersen Air Force Base is scheduled to conduct an Operational Readiness Exercise from Nov. 5 to Nov. 8. This exercise satisfies an annual requirement in accordance with Air Force Installation Mission Assurance Exercise Requirements to maintain operational readiness and is not focused on any specific threat.
Expect increased noise and activity to include sound effects, messages from loud speakers, sirens and noise from alert vehicles. Visual effects such as smoke may also be visible.
The exercise will involve various training scenarios and is intended to prepare airmen to conduct various base functions in a high-risk environment. The exercise is a routinely scheduled event to ensure ongoing readiness of Airmen.
In the event of a real situation the exercise will be terminated and the base will be notified through the official Andersen Air Force Base Facebook page, AtHoc notification system and the base loudspeakers. (PR)

Saipan Southern High School would release its mid-progress reports today, Oct. 19, 2018, from 4pm to 6pm. Please stop by your child’s classroom to pick up the mid-progress report. (PR)
Library closed on Oct. 27
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will be closed on Oct. 27, in lieu of the 4th Annual Friends of the Library Golf Tournament. If interested in participating in the tournament or for more information, call the library at 235-READ. (PR)
UOG association to host senatorial forum
The University of Guam Political Science Student Association will be hosting a 2018 Senatorial Forum Series. The forum series will feature Democrat and Republican candidates running for a seat in the 35th Guam Legislature. The forums will take place on Oct. 23, 24, and 25, from 5pm to 7pm at the University of Guam CLASS Lecture Hall.
The topics that will be addressed in this forum are economic development, political status, environmental sustainability, and UOG related issues. The audience will also have an opportunity to ask the candidates questions. (PR)
