Pink Warrior Walkathon this Saturday
The Pink Warrior Walkathon will be held this Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015. Registration starts at 6am at the Naked Fish parking lot where you’ll submit your pledge forms.
Children get a DFEMS fire helmet when $100 is pledged. Adults get a pink DFEMS T-shirt when $100 is pledged. Pledge forms are available at all fire stations and Bank of Guam Garapan. All proceeds go to the Commonwealth Cancer Association in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join firemen after the walk for a firetruck hands-on display. (DFEMS)

Air Force training at FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla on Oct. 22, from 10:30am to 3pm. The general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear of the area during the date and time indicated. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be on a 10-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. (PR)
USDA offers funding for high energy cost grants
Up to $10 million in competitive grants is now available to assist communities with extremely high energy costs. Grants in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s High Energy Cost program are available to communities with annual residential energy costs exceeding 275 percent of the national average. The grants may be used to acquire, construct, extend, upgrade or otherwise improve energy generation, transmission or distribution facilities serving eligible communities. They may also be used to install on- and off-grid renewable energy systems and to make energy efficiency improvements.
